Matchup to Watch: Tony Allen vs. Rudy Gay
One of the biggest joys of the NBA is watching a loathed star return to the city he once played for. Memphis Grizzlies fans don’t hate Rudy Gay at the levels of Lebron James/Cleveland, but they also don’t love him. All of the recent success the team has been apart of in the past few years has been sans Rudy Gay. First playoff win in franchise history? Rudy wasn’t there. First playoff series win in franchise history? Rudy wasn’t there. First Western Conference finals appearance? Rudy wasn’t there.
The two teams faced off last season after the three-team trade that sent Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors in January of last season, but that was in Toronto. Both teams haven’t been very good this year, but you’d have to think Memphis + Rudy Gay will try to play to their best abilities to win this one.
