It’s been a busy summer for the LA Clippers. In case you missed some of the team’s moves, here is an overview of everything that has happened so far.

The LA Clippers have made numerous moves this off-season. They continue to create a roster catered to the desires of the front office of the Clippers organization. They’ve been looking for a team of this caliber for a while and finally, the Clippers fulfilled their goal of a championship caliber team. During this off-season prior to the 2019-2020 season, the Clippers turned into a favorite to win the title in just under a few months.

Notably, the Clippers swirled the NBA news world with a blockbuster trade, working with the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire Paul George. This was the incentive for Kawhi Leonard, and they joined forces to create a dynamic duo which was rated the second best duo in the League, behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Although the Clippers gained George in the trade it came at a cost. They lost valuable assets including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari and a record number of first round picks (five) along with two pick swaps. Lastly, the Clippers signed Rodney McGruder to a three-year deal after acquiring his rights towards the end of last season. He is a great offensive player who adds a three point shooting option off the bench.

As well, the Clippers front office made subtle but powerful moves. In a four-way trade with the Heat, 76ers, and Trail Blazers, they attained Maurice Harkless who is a prime defender and a perfect fit for the Clippers as they’re built right now.

The team shifted dramatically from last year’s roster. Two free agents left to join the Brooklyn Nets in Wilson Chandler and Garrett Temple. Both of these players served their time and contributed with great minutes off of the bench, but it was time for a change. In addition, the team waived Tyrone Wallace and Sindarius Thornwell, who couldn’t fit on the current roster but were great role players.

However, the Clippers kept the heart and soul of the team, Patrick Beverley. Beverley was a key component in the teams success last year and it was the right move to bring him back to the team for another three years. Re-signing players like Ivica Zubac and JaMychal Green was also very important in the dynamic and culture the Clippers are forming. Both of these players are on the cusp of greatness and we saw shades of their greatness during the playoffs.

There may be a few moves left to make before the start of the season, but the summer has already been full of change. Buckle up, Clipper Nation.
