The LA Clippers take the court for their first NBA Summer League game tonight versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

It’s time for LA Clippers’ basketball! Well, sort of. Tonight, the team will face off in their first game of the summer versus the Los Angeles Lakers on ESPN at 5:30 PST. Despite most of the focus for the night being on Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram, the LA Clippers will be an interesting watch.

The team features last year’s first round pick, Brice Johnson, who looks to earn his spot in the rotation this year behind Blake Griffin. Johnson was out most of last season due to injury and only received spot minutes during garbage time.

The Rooks

Other players to watch for include this year’s two second round picks: Jawun Evans and Sindarius Thornwell. Evans will probably get a lot of focus, due to being matched up against Ball. The 6’0 guard will have his hands full, but according to Draft Express, he does have the tools to be a decent defender.

Meanwhile, Thornwell slipped in the draft and the Clippers were able to buy the rights to him. He stands 6’5, but has a 6’10 wingspan which should help him become a prototypical three-and-D player. Thornwell made a name for himself in the NCAA tournament during his team’s Final Four Run. He’ll be matched up against Lakers’ star Brandon Ingram, so it should make for yet another interesting head to head.
